What is your Role within your Organization?
I am the founder and President of Westkal. Westkal is a private Canadian Oil and Natural Gas Production Company with operations primarily in Alberta.

Why you have joined the Mavericks:
Originally I joined for the camaraderie. The group was not the "usual Calgary Oil and Gas suspects", so it was a chance to meet a group of guys from a cross section of Calgary's non-oil and gas businesses. The fact the organization was involved in charities was an added bonus. What I've come to discover over the past few years is the level of commitment these guys bring to raising money for charity. This is a hard working and of equal importance a fun loving crew that makes a serious impact on the lives of Calgary's less fortunate through the funding of charities. I am proud to be associated with the Mavericks.

Your Thoughts/Views on Charitable Causes:
I have been lucky enough to sit on the Board of Directors of the Children's Link Society (CLS) as the Maverick's representative for the past year. It has been an eye-opening experience to be directly involved in the not-for-profit sector. I am truly amazed at the lives that are bettered by the dedication and compassion of the CLS group. From a charitable cause stand point, in my view the need far exceeds the current resources available both from a financial and time commitment perspective. I am pleased that the Mavericks are doing something about both.

My family.

How will you measure the success of the Mavericks?
Growth!!

1) Growth in the fund raising area - up and beyond $100,000 to kid's charities. I would love to see this group raise greater than $250,000/ annually within 5 years. I think we need to and will add at least one fund raising event this year to put us on track to do that.

2) Growth in the Maverick's community profile. More name recognition will ultimately help us raise more money for charities.

3) As the Maverick's representative, help the CLS to continue to grow to meet the ever increasing needs within Calgary and Southern Alberta.
